What do you need to write on your resume to address “good interpersonal skills”, or “works well in a team”, it maybe a bit more complicated then you think.
We recently read an article on Workopolis.com, regarding the hardest part of writing a job description, and they quoted “… identifying the interpersonal and soft skills necessary to do the job”.
So when you see job descriptions that ask for soft skills, how do you approach this on the resume. We provided some guidelines that worked great for past clients.
Read into the soft skills and find out what they are really looking for
“good interpersonal skills” What does this mean? If you keep reading the job posting you may find your answer in the daily Job Duties that are usually listed above the Job Requirements. If you can find out what the duties include, you can start to piece together what the exact skill is needed and the example of such skill to be placed on the resume.
For example, if you are reading a Business Analyst job posting, and there is an abundance of reporting, and analysis of data, and below in the Job Requirements section, they are asking for good analytical skills, then you need to pull out all information that is related to how you crunch numbers, and report on data.
There is much more to this than what we can write in this article, but please send us a message through email or our web form, and we can assist. Also, please share this below and help someone how is going through the job transition process.
