How Many Pages is Your Resume?

Do you know how many pages your resume should be? Did you know that some people think a two-page document is the standard? Find out from our experience how many pages are correct.
To best answer the question, we need some more information. Resume length depends on 1) occupation 2) experience and 3) country of designation.
Occupation
In most cases, one or two pages are appropriate. The most important point to remember is “does the resume convey the information to the destination person and does it align with what they are looking for”. If you can satisfy this, then you have a great chance for securing an interview. Some occupations demand more pages, and these typically are fall in the academic sector. For example, a clinical psychologist would have more information on the resume due to publications, dissertation etc.
Experience
How much experience one has would dictate the length of the resume. Although, keep in mind, no one wants to see a four-page resume, it’s overwhelming. We generally recommend keeping your experience relevant and somewhat current. In other words, if you have experience from 20 years ago and it’s not relevant, take it off the resume.
Country of destination
If you plan on submitting a resume overseas, you may need a CV or an expanded resume. This may include extras not commonly found on North American resumes, such as gender, religion, marital status etc.
Still unsure? If so, do not feel bad as there are a lot of sources that post conflicting details. To summarize, we feel that by making your resume look like the job you are applying to will greatly enhance your chances of securing a job.
