Resume tips: I object to objectives

Most people have an Objectives section towards the top of their document. Our strategy is to remove the Objective and to replace it with an Introduction.
The Objective was used a long time ago, before companies steam-lined their recruiting process. Now and probably for some time, companies advertise for the positions that they are seeking, and people who are accepting resumes have little-to-no-time to discuss potential roles (although this is a big mistake and does little for the company’s recruitment strategy). Most people who work in HR are busy doing lots of tasks and have no time to do any strategic activities.
So, what do you put in the place of an Objective? We like to include an Introduction. A one or two-line sentence that explains who you are. Branding is very important and this will assist in building your brand and thus your credibility.
If you have an Objective in your resume, please remove it. Chances are that you will be applying to a specific position and will not want to waste valuable room on your resume with some redundancies.
