Is there a stigma attached to Millennials and possible issues related to job search

We have read a lot of articles related to Millennials, and we think that people have too much time, and need to fill white space with their over-blown, and over-hyped opinions. I think social scientists and psychologists, and others, need to re-evaluate their contribution to popular culture and ‘scientific findings’. That’s our opinion, and we’re going to stick with it!
So, you’re a Millennial (born 1980 – 2000 ish) Does anyone care? We didn’t care when we recruited for candidates, because the job postings dictated who we needed to hire! If the company needs someone with over 25 years experience, then Millennials, you’re out of luck, so focus on the jobs that fit your experience.
Every generation has a label, and it’s absurd to focus on these characteristics. People who are engaged and motivated, will be good employees! So, if you are one of those people, you will have an easier time gaining employment.
So, what can Millennials do to ensure that their resumes are treated with the respect and consideration they deserve?
Apply to jobs like the rest of us! No magic required!
Don’t get caught up on trying to be transparent, showcase your technical skills (because if you are born after 1980, you will be quite familiar with technology, so no special methods are required), be specific; well that goes without saying and also relevancy of information is also a no-brainer. A good cover letter and resume should reflect all those details, but don’t worry about trying to overcome some kind of invisible barrier due to your age, and just write a well put-together package. The key is being clear and concise and treat the documents like sales and marketing collateral.
As you can see, we are not a big fan of focusing on which generation you fit into. Focus on your experience, and what you can offer a perspective employer, or else you may find yourself feeling discouraged.
If you still have reservations about your generation and where you fit into the ‘proper’ application type, send us an email and we will help.
