Resume Tip: Voicemail

What’s one of the most important items in the job application process? Yes you guessed it! (probably not hard to figure out as the title of the post gave away the answer).
If you have a phone, please ensure you have voicemail. When we call clients and they are not available to answer the phone, we like to listen to the professionalism of their voicemail, and some clients do not have voicemail. So what’s the problem? Well, if you apply for a job, and the prospective employer calls you (instead of email) back, and you are not able to take the call, then they are unable to leave a message, which means you probably lost out on that job.
If cost is an issue, then we recommend adding a voicemail service to your cell or home phone for the duration of your job search, and if you need to cancel, then that can be arranged. It’s really important to ensure you have a) voicemail or a voice-answering sevice and b) a professional message.
Thanks for reading, and if you, or know someone who does not have voicemail and is looking for a job, get the service or tell the person (or better yet share this article with them) the importance of VM.
Please share below and as always, if you have any questions, please contact us at info@resumescanada.ca or leave a message on the post (or both!).
